GENERAL MUSIC
6th grade
The beginning of the year will be focused on learning basic piano skills. It will feature melodies and chords separately and together. Students who already play will be student teachers and learn some improvisational skills.
At the turn of the year, songwriting is the focus. They will learn 5 different ways to compose songs and will compose and perform 3 originals in small groups and solo.
7th grade
The beginning of the year will be focused on learning basic piano skills. It will feature melodies and chords separately and together. Students who already play will be student teachers and learn some improvisational skills.
At the turn of the year they will make a film on a topic of their choice and compose the soundtrack for it.
8th grade
The beginning of the year will be focused on learning basic piano skills. It will feature melodies and chords separately and together. Students who already play will be student teachers and learn some improvisational skills.
At the turn of the year the music used in film will be studied. The students will compose a film soundtrack complete with music, soundeffects, and voice-over.
